Founder & Product Lead

Yiğit Can Yaman founded EquiReason and has worked on it full time since January 2025. He designed and built the research engine behind it: the pipeline that reads SEC filings at the raw XBRL level — 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4, 13F and reported segment, product and geographic revenue — and measures how much of a company's economics actually sits in the path of a market change.

Most of what is published in these guides came out of problems he had to solve to make that system correct. That banks' interest income is not captured by the standard revenue tag, so a naive pipeline reports impossible margins for them. That 13F position values changed unit convention after 2023, and a reader who misses it overstates every institutional position by a factor of a thousand. That reported segment revenue is structured differently by almost every filer, which is why exposure cannot be inferred from a sector label. The guides describe these signals the way someone who has had to reconcile them describes them, including where they mislead.

He has invested his own money in public markets for around seven years — the gap between what a screener shows and what actually drives a business is where the product started. Before EquiReason he trained as a pilot at university. He is not a licensed financial adviser, and neither he nor EquiReason provides investment advice or personal recommendations.

How this research is produced

The guides published here follow a stated method — what counts as evidence, how company exposure is verified against reported revenue, and what would falsify a conclusion. Read the methodology.
